Afrobo Cup, 2018

It is with great pleasure that we announce the third Robosoccer match in Africa. It will be held at the International ICT Expo in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia from June 30th to July 4th 2018. There are 5 competing universities from three countries: Ethiopia, Kenya and Nigeria.

We all remember the very first one where Addis Ababa University faced Mekele University on a daring match 😉 held within the Ethiopian Ministry of Science and Technology compound. We had a good time complemented with an argument over a controversial goal. It was an extremely energetic environment to be among motivated techies who actually built an autonomous soccer playing system.

We had the second one at the first International ICT Expo held in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia on July, 2017. Again, Addis Ababa University faced Mekele University which ended with Mekele beating Addis Ababa University 2 – 0.

Children Enjoying the Second Robosoccer Cup.

The most awesome spectator in the moment!

We can’t be more excited to have more universities join in this year. We shall have a spectacular match!
The competing universities are:

  • Ethiopia: Addis Ababa University
  • Ethiopia: Mekele University
  • Ethiopia: University of Gondar
  • Kenya: Technical University of Kenya
  • Nigeria: University of Lagos

All teams will face each other throughout the Expo. The last two matches would be between the four top scoring teams. 3 points will be given for a the winning team of a match while the losing team earns none. A match never ends in a draw, if a draw happens, one team must be declared the winner per the rules and regulations of the match.

Good Luck to all teams!
